People using carved stones to decorate their houses and walls have a long history in Kurdistan's Hawraman area.

Many Hawramanis from Iran have traveled to the Kurdistan Region's Hawraman to work in the field of stone carving and construction.

Previously the stones were carved in a normal way but nowadays the stones are carved decoratively by the Hawramanis from Iran, who work from 7 a.m to 4 p.m. local time. each one of them craves 10 to 15 stones.

Stone carving is exhausting work with many dangers.

The Hawramani workers do this difficult job to provide for their families back in Iran.

Previously in Iran, many carved stones as a job, but later on carved stones lost popularity in Iran, making the workers travel to the Kurdistan Region to do their craft.

Till this day in the Kurdistan Region's Hawraman, many houses are built with stones.
