What occurred today could have been done 14 years ago using legal and constitutional procedures.
The $32 billion debt owed by the Kurdistan Region would have been preferable to avoid, as would the region's residents having to deal with unpaid wages, salary savings, and a lack of services.
It would have been better if thousands of young people and families had not fled to other countries, drowned in the oceans, or disintegrated due to the unfavorable economic climate.
It would also have been better if our young people's marriages did not reach the point of extinction. The lack of reproduction due to family economic collapse would not have happened, which is a significant loss for the Kurdish population in this country. There would not have been thousands of unemployed young people, and the pricey oil, gas, and gasoline problems would not have had a negative impact on our population.
These issues, and countless others, would not have arisen if it had not been for their self-serving goals and financial gain.
What does all this mean?
No one in this region will ever forget the failure of an independent economy designed to ease social hardships.
Now that the proper strategy has been implemented, as the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan has long demanded, It is right to sigh over our harmed country and hope for a better future for Kurdistan's citizens.
This will end their suffering, the salary issue, lack of services, and other inequalities.
