Sulaimani... the city that is being suppressed
Opinions 02:50 PM - 2022-12-07
Since more than a year ago, we have demanded through parliamentary channels that the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) stop purposefully oppressing Sulaimani and its surroundings.
Each month, the KRG transfers roughly 280 billion dollars to Sulaimani, which is not nearly 25% of the country's whole oil revenue. According to their estimates, the oil industry generates more than $1 billion monthly.
365 billion of Sulaimani's expenses, however, are solely for salaries; Teachers, allowances, private sector incentives, and other expenses total more than 12 billion dinars; In addition to the Hiwa Hospital (which will be discussed at a later time), rubbish collection costs, and state institutions; with a 15% deduction for charitable contributions!
Sulaimani is currently under unjust siege and having its revenue sources cut off; There are no active projects in this area; Hospitals are running low on medications, and staff members' pockets are being picked clean; There is nothing else being done besides encircling and repressing Slemani; Be certain that we will go on!
The importance of Sulaimani's land and people outweighs the government's attempts to repress them in this manner!
