The Federal Ministry of Oil announced on Wednesday, 17 June 2026, that sales of petrol and kerosene during May 2026 reached 1.061 billion litres and 91 million litres respectively.

In a statement received by PUKMEDIA, the Oil Products Distribution Company said that total sales of all grades of petrol amounted to 1.061 billion litres during the month.

The company added that kerosene sales stood at 91 million litres, while sales of both types of gas oil reached 1.168 billion litres.

It further noted that sales of all fuel oil products totalled 1.697 billion litres, in addition to more than 8 million litres of jet fuel.

In recent weeks, several Iraqi governorates have experienced a fuel shortage, marked by limited supplies of both regular and premium petrol and long queues at filling stations. The situation has gradually eased as supplies of these two grades have returned to most stations. However, high-octane (super) petrol remains largely unavailable.
