University of Sulaymaniyah Receives International ISO Certification

The University of Sulaymaniyah has added another milestone to its list of achievements after securing an internationally recognised ISO certification.
Speaking at a press conference on Monday, 15 June 2026, Professor Dr Kosar Mohamed, President of the University of Sulaymaniyah, announced that the university presidency had been awarded ISO certification for administrative standardisation and management.
He described the achievement as a landmark moment, stating that the University of Sulaymaniyah is the first public university in the Kurdistan Region to obtain the certification. He noted that the award serves as international recognition that the university’s administrative processes meet globally recognised standards.
Dr Zana Mahmood, Vice President for Scientific Affairs, told PUKMEDIA that the certification was granted following a comprehensive assessment of the administrative quality standards implemented by the university presidency.
He said the university had successfully achieved the international ISO certification in administrative quality management, adding that the University of Sulaymaniyah is the first public university in the Kurdistan Region to receive the accreditation.
The University of Sulaymaniyah, founded in 1968, is among the largest and most prestigious higher education institutions in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq. It has earned a strong record of international recognition, most recently being ranked first in Iraq in the Nature Index.
