Qubad Talabani's meeting with he new leadership and members of the Halabja Centre Council of the PUK.

Qubad Talabani, Supervisor of the Secretariat Bureau of President Mam Jalal, met with the new leadership and members of the Halabja Centre Council of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) during a visit to Halabja province.

At the beginning of the meeting, held on 8 June 2026 on the occasion of the inauguration of the new leadership and council members, Talabani congratulated them and expressed hope that the new team would build stronger relations with the residents of Halabja, ensuring that the Centre serves all segments of society and conveys their voices and demands to the relevant authorities.

Talabani referred to the current situation and status of the PUK, stating that the party, under the leadership of Bafel Jalal Talabani, has secured a strong standing in Kurdistan, Iraq, and internationally, and is becoming stronger day by day, with its policies and positions increasingly recognised.

In this context, he stressed the need for PUK institutions and organisations to adapt their working methods to this evolving situation and to engage more closely with the public than ever before. He added that the PUK derives its strength and status from the Kurdish people, and that the stronger its presence among the people, the better it can represent their will at the level of Kurdistan, Iraq, and international forums.
