Qubad Talabani Meets PUK Cadres in Erbil, Reaffirms Party’s Regional and National Role

Qubad Talabani visited the Third centre of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) in Erbil, where he met with cadres and held discussions with them.

During the meeting, Talabani congratulated the newly appointed head of the centre and his two deputies, wishing them success in carrying out their responsibilities.

He highlighted the current position of the PUK, describing it as an influential political force at the level of the Kurdistan Region, Iraq, and the wider region, with all parties taking its stance and policies into account on various issues. He added that the PUK is no longer marginalised, but instead holds clear positions and policies on key Iraqi and regional matters, and is actively consulted by other actors.

He also explained that under the leadership of Bafel Jalal Talabani, the PUK continues efforts in Baghdad to address the problems facing the Kurdistan Region, while also playing an active role in shaping Iraq’s broader political direction.

In another part of the meeting, Talabani urged branch members to adapt their working methods to the party’s current phase, strengthen their engagement with the public, listen closely to citizens’ concerns, and work more actively to help resolve their problems.
