A conference titled “The Kurds Facing Regional Realignment: Four Territories, Four Fronts, One People” was held at the French National Assembly, bringing together Kurdish political representatives, academics, and French parliamentarians to discuss the evolving role of the Kurds amid shifting dynamics in the Middle East.

The event aimed to provide a structured platform for dialogue between Kurdish representatives and French policymakers, with a focus on understanding regional transformations and exploring future political perspectives on Kurdistan.

The session was moderated by Engin Sustam, Senior Lecturer at the University of Paris 8 (LIAgE Laboratory) and Associate Researcher at CETOBC–EHESS.

Speakers included Tuncer Bakırhan, Co-President of the DEM Party in Türkiye; Siamand Moini, former Co-President of PJAK and current European representative; Fuad Omar, former Co-President of the PYD and current European representative; and Blessa Jabar Farman, member of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) leadership and former member of the Iraqi parliament.

Discussions focused on what participants described as a period of regional realignment, examining how Kurdish political movements across four different regions are responding to shared challenges and changing geopolitical conditions.

The conference also featured contributions from French parliamentarians and concluded with remarks by senior French political figures, underlining continued interest in Kurdish issues within French political and academic circles.
