PUK Foreign Relations Head Meets Russian CG.

Salar Mahmoud, the Head of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan's (PUK) Foreign Relations Centre, at the headquarters of the Organisational Affairs Bureau, received the Russian Consul General in the Kurdistan Region, Maxim Rubin, alongside Mrs Tatiana Nekrasova, during which discussions touched on bilateral relations and calls for greater international recognition of the genocide of the Kurdish people.

In a meeting held on Tuesday, Mahmoud warmly welcomed the Russian Consul and briefed him on the history of relations between Kurdistan and Russia, from the era of President Mam Jalal to the present stage.

Mahmoud also spoke about the genocide of the Kurdish people in general, and the Anfal campaign in particular, calling on Russia to play a role in recognising the genocide of the Kurdish people.

For his part, CG Rubin congratulated Mahmoud on his appointment as  Head of the PUK Foreign Relations Centre and emphasised the importance of the PUK’s position in both Kurdistan and Iraq.
