Drone Attacks Disrupt Education Across Kurdistan Region

Kurdistan Region Iraq Duhok

Ongoing drone attacks by armed groups on the Kurdistan Region continue to disrupt daily life, including the education sector.

The governorates of Erbil, Sulaymaniyah and Duhok have declared Sunday, 29 March, an official holiday for schools, universities and institutes across the Kurdistan Region to ensure the safety of students and teaching staff. The administrations of Raparin, Garmian, Zakho and Soran have also announced similar measures.

Continued Attacks
Amid the continuing regional conflict, multiple areas across the Kurdistan Region have come under repeated drone attacks. Since the outbreak of the conflict, the region has been targeted in approximately 450 incidents, resulting in 13 fatalities and 156 injuries.

In the past 24 hours alone, Erbil city has been targeted 15 times, while the residence of the President of the Kurdistan Region in Duhok was also targeted by a drone.
