The Presidency of the Iraqi Parliament strongly condemned the recent attacks on security forces across multiple provinces and the Peshmerga in the Kurdistan Region, which left several martyrs and wounded. The statement called for national unity to protect security institutions, urged keeping Iraq clear of regional conflicts, and emphasised preserving the country’s stability and safety.
The following is the Presidency’s statement:
We condemn the attacks that targeted the headquarters of the security forces in several provinces, as well as the Peshmerga forces in the Kurdistan Region, which resulted in a number of martyrs and injured.
The targeting of security forces in all their forms is unacceptable and calls for a unified national stance that strengthens the protection of security institutions and maintains national unity in the face of challenges.
At the same time, we emphasise the need to spare Iraq from the repercussions of regional conflicts, to avoid dragging the country into any confrontation that does not serve its interests, and to work towards preserving its security and stability away from any escalation.
