Six U.S. Crew Killed in KC-135 Crash in Western Iraq, CENTCOM Confirms

The United States Central Command (CENTCOM) has confirmed that all crew members aboard a U.S. KC-135 refuelling aircraft that crashed in western Iraq have died.

In a statement, CENTCOM said: “All six crew members aboard the U.S. KC-135 refuelling aircraft that went down in western Iraq have been confirmed dead. The aircraft was lost while flying in friendly airspace on 12 March during Operation Epic Fury.”

The statement added that the circumstances surrounding the crash remain under investigation, noting that the aircraft was not brought down by hostile or friendly fire.

It concluded that the identities of the service members will be withheld for 24 hours until their next of kin have been notified. With this incident, the number of U.S. service members killed since the start of the war against Iran on 28 February has risen to 14.
