Iraq closes airspace.

The Iraqi Ministry of Transport announced on Saturday, 28 February 2026, the closure of Iraqi airspace following Israeli air strikes targeting the Iranian capital, Tehran, and other cities across Iran.

Ministry spokesperson Maitham al-Safi told the Iraq's state media (INA) that the decision included the full suspension of air traffic, noting that Iraqi airspace had been cleared of all aircraft prior to the closure.

Meanwhile, Erbil International Airport also announced the suspension of its flights following the Israeli attack.

Jordan, Qatar, Kuwait and the UAE have also closed their airspace.
