The field and cultural visit organised by the Civil Development Organization (CDO), in collaboration with the Kurdistan Center for Documentation and Research at the University of Sulaymaniyah, has successfully concluded.
After three days of travel from Sulaymaniyah to the deserts of Shu’aibiya in Basra in southern Iraq, the joint delegation of CDO and the Kurdistan Center for Documentation and Research completed their field and cultural mission.
Bakhtiar Ahmed, supervisor of the visit, explained that the purpose of the trip was to study the British monument located in the town of Shu’aibiya, Basra as during World War I, Malike (King) Mahmood played a key role in the Battle of Shu’aibiya, making this historical site of particular significance to the Kurdish people.
Regarding the outcomes of the visit, he stated that the team documented numerous videos, records and photographs at the Shu’aibiya monument, which will form part of the Malik Mahmood's House Museum collection, a project that CDO has been developing in Sulaymaniyah for several years and which is scheduled to open officially later this year.
