A 12-year-old boy died on Saturday after his health deteriorated due to an immunodeficiency disease, as he was unable to reach his specialist at Aleppo University Hospital because of road closures resulting from the siege imposed on Kobani.

The boy, Dildar Rezan Hasso, required ongoing treatment at the university hospital in Aleppo. According to his family, the doctor supervising his case had confirmed that the necessary treatment was available, provided he continued receiving care at the hospital.

However, due to the closure of roads and the ongoing siege imposed on Kobani by factions affiliated with the Syrian Interim Government, his family was unable to transfer him to Aleppo to complete his treatment. His condition subsequently worsened, leading to his death.

The factions of the Syrian Interim Government have maintained a tight siege on Kobani since 20 January, which remains in place despite an agreement between the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) and the Syrian Interim Government, as well as several meetings between Kobani’s local administration and the governor of Aleppo.
