PUK Spokesperson Confirms Any Agreement with KDP Will Be Announced Publicly

Karwan Gaznayi, spokesperson for the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK), said that a calm and constructive meeting took place today, 11 February 2026, between Mr Massoud Barzani and Mr Bafel Talabani to discuss key issues in the Kurdistan Region, Iraq, and the wider region, while denying rumours of any agreement on official posts.

The following is PUK Spokesperson’s statement;

On 11 February 2026, a constructive meeting took place between Mr Massoud Barzani and Mr Bafel Talabani in a very calm and cordial atmosphere.

The discussion focused on current issues affecting the Kurdistan Region, Iraq, and the wider region.

Despite the positive nature of the meeting, reports in some media and on social media suggesting an agreement on official positions are false. We categorically reject these rumours. Any agreement between the two sides will be announced officially to the public.
