The Health Authority in the Jazira Region in Western Kurdistan (North and East Syria) and the Kurdish Red Crescent awarded the Medical Appreciation Medal to a medical delegation from the Kurdistan Region, in recognition of its humanitarian and medical efforts in providing aid and healthcare services to displaced persons and wounded individuals arriving in Western Kurdistan.

The delegation, comprising 19 doctors from the cities of Sulaymaniyah and Erbil, arrived in Western Kurdistan on 1 February to deliver medical and humanitarian assistance. It spent two days in the city of Derik, where the team visited shelters housing displaced people and assessed the health conditions and medical needs of the wounded.

The delegation then travelled to Qamishli, where it remained for a further two days. During this period, the doctors visited health centres and shelters for displaced people, as well as the Kurdish Red Crescent centre and the Executive Council of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria in the Jazira Region, providing treatment to displaced patients.

The medical team was honoured in appreciation of its humanitarian commitment and its active role in delivering medical services during a week of continuous work in support of the people of Rojava.

The delegation is scheduled to return to the Kurdistan Region on Saturday, 7 February 2025, having completed its mission and following the stabilisation of the situation in Western Kurdistan after the agreement reached between the Syrian Democratic Forces and the Syrian Interim Government.
