Seven Terror Suspects Arrested by Asayish in Sulaymaniyah

The Asayish, the security forces of the Kurdistan Region, have announced the arrest of seven terror suspects who entered the region with the intention of concealing their activities.
In a statement received by PUKMEDIA, the Asayish said that the arrests were carried out by the General Directorate of Operations following intelligence-sharing and coordination with Iraqi federal government security agencies. The operations took place in Sulaymaniyah Governorate during January 2026.
According to the statement, the suspects are wanted by the Iraqi judiciary and had entered the Kurdistan Region in an attempt to hide their activities. The Asayish confirmed that the arrests were conducted through several security operations.
The statement added that all seven individuals are currently being detained under Article 4 of Iraq’s Counter-Terrorism Law, while investigations into their cases are continuing.
The Asayish reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining security and stability in the Kurdistan Region through ongoing coordination with relevant security institutions.
