PUK Media Board.
The Media Board of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan’s (PUK) Media and Awareness Bureau has expressed concern over the closure of NRT TV’s offices in Erbil and Duhok.
The board stated that the offices were closed due to a security and partisan decision, without consultation with the Ministry of Culture. It warned that the move could damage the reputation and standing of the Kurdistan Region, exposing it to widespread criticism, particularly after the Ministry of Culture had recently sent a letter of thanks to all Kurdish media outlets for their coverage of news and events in Western Kurdistan (Rojava).
The statement added that the closure could further restrict freedom of expression and press freedom. The PUK Media Board called on the authorities in Erbil and Duhok to allow NRT TV to resume its work freely in both governorates.
