PUK President Pays Tribute to Martyred Peshmerga Commanders on 11th Anniversary

Bafel Jalal Talabani, President of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK), has issued a statement marking the 11th anniversary of the martyrdom of two distinguished Peshmerga commanders, Major General Hussein Mansour and Major General Sherko Fatih Shwani, affirming that they defended the land of Kurdistan and that their legacy will endure.

The statement reads:

Eleven years have passed since the martyrdom of two great leaders of our people, Major General Hussein Mansour and Major General Sherko Fatih Shwani.

These two martyrs stood as outstanding examples of commitment, bravery and courage in the Kurdish national struggle. Until their final moments, they remained steadfast so that our sacred flag would continue to fly proudly. They never withdrew from the front lines and defended the land of Kurdistan with their lives.

The memory of Martyrs Sherko Fatih Shwani and Hussein Mansour will forever live on in the hearts and minds of the PUK and all the people of Kurdistan. They will always be remembered with pride and honour.
