US Ambassador Tom Barrack published a statement on X confirming that he met with General Mazloum Abdi, Commander-in-Chief of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), and Ilham Ahmed, Co-Chair of the Autonomous Administration’s Department of Foreign Relations.

In his statement, Ambassador Barrack reaffirmed the United States’ strong support for and commitment to advancing the 'integration process' outlined in the agreement reached on 18 January between the SDF and the Syrian government.

He stressed that all parties agreed the full upholding of the current ceasefire is the essential first step towards progress. Maintaining calm on the ground was described as critical to preventing further escalation and to safeguarding civilians.

Ambassador Barrack also noted that discussions focused on the need to identify and implement confidence-building measures by all sides, in order to foster trust and create the conditions for lasting stability and security in Syria.
