The Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES).
The Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES) has condemned the attacks on Kobane and the Jazira region, describing them as a “systematic war of extermination” and holding factions of the Syrian Interim Government fully accountable. The administration called on the international community and the Global Coalition against ISIS to intervene urgently to halt the assaults and end the war crimes being committed against civilians.
In a statement, AANES reaffirmed its full commitment to the ceasefire, underlining its dedication to preserving civilian lives and maintaining stability and security in the region.
The administration stressed that Syrian factions continue to deliberately violate the ceasefire, escalating attacks on civilians and populated areas, particularly in Kobane and the Jazira region. It described the situation in Kobane as “not merely a military assault, but a full-fledged war crime,” noting that the city is targeted because it is a symbol of resistance and resilience. Residents have been left without water, electricity, or basic services, and the city has been cut off from the internet, further isolating it from the outside world.
AANES warned that the attacks represent “a systematic attempt to break the will of our people and erase their achievements,” holding the aggressors fully responsible for the consequences of this escalation.
The administration called on the international community and the Global Coalition against ISIS to take immediate action to stop the attacks and protect civilians.
The statement highlighted the importance of national unity, noting that Kurds across all parts of Kurdistan are standing together against this campaign of extermination. “History will record this resistance in letters of gold,” it said, urging people to remain steadfast in defence of their freedom, dignity, and life.
It concluded with an appeal to Kurdish communities and supporters worldwide to raise the level of struggle and resistance, and to protect the gains achieved through the sacrifices of martyrs, the perseverance of fighters, and the determination of the people.
