The Democratic Autonomous Administration of Western Kurdistan has issued a public statement expressing deep concern over recent escalations by the Syrian Interim Government and inflammatory media campaigns targeting the people of Western Kurdistan.
The statement, released by the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES), strongly condemned what it described as an “unjustified escalation” by factions affiliated with the Syrian Interim Government in Damascus. It warned that such actions pose serious risks to the remaining opportunities for stability and peace in Syria.
Highlighting the country’s prolonged suffering, the statement noted that the Syrian people have endured over fifteen years of war, destruction, killings, and displacement, paying a heavy price for policies pursued by the former regime. Despite this, Syrians across all communities continue to aspire to a future marked by dignity, security, and civil peace.
The administration emphasised that new wars or military escalations would only undermine political processes, threaten civil peace, and deepen divisions among Syrians at a time when unity is most needed. “In such a scenario, there will be no winners or losers; the Syrian nation and people will be the ones to pay the price, contrary to their hopes and aspirations,” the statement read.
Calling for dialogue over conflict, the Autonomous Administration urged all Syrian forces to reject hate speech, incitement, and division. It stressed the importance of fostering coexistence and building a decentralised Syria that guarantees the rights of all citizens.
The statement also addressed the Syrian Transitional Government, urging it to act with wisdom and responsibility, prioritising political solutions over military action, in the best interest of the Syrian people and national unity.
Concluding, the Autonomous Administration reaffirmed its readiness to resolve disputes through dialogue and understanding, aiming to halt the bloodshed and counter schemes designed to divide the Syrian people.
