Lindsey Graham, a Senior U.S. senator.
Senior United States Senator Lindsey Graham expressed strong support for his colleague Senator Jim Risch’s call for calm in Syria, emphasising that the new Syrian government must respect human rights and protect minority communities.
Senator Graham described reports suggesting that Syrian army forces, possibly in coordination with Turkey, may be advancing against Kurdish forces as “most disturbing” and “credible.” He warned that any such action would provoke a strong response from the United States.
“While I support giving this new Syrian government a chance, I will not tolerate or accept a brazen attack against our Kurdish allies,” Graham said. He highlighted that the Kurds have been a key force in dismantling the ISIS caliphate and have maintained close ties with Israel over the years.
