PUK President, U.S. CG Highlight Importance of Unified Kurdish Position in Baghdad

PUK President Bafel Jalal Talabani's meeting with Wendy Green, the United States Consul General to the Kurdistan Region.

Bafel Jalal Talabani, President of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK), received Wendy Green, the United States Consul General to the Kurdistan Region, in Dabashan, Sulaymaniyah.

The two sides discussed the latest political, security and economic developments, highlighting the importance of a unified Kurdish position in Baghdad.

The formation of the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) was another topic of discussion. President Bafel stressed the need to establish a strong and effective government that serves all regions in a balanced manner, reflects the aspirations of citizens, and works to address existing challenges.

The unification and organisation of the Peshmerga forces were also discussed. President Bafel said: “The PUK will make every effort to build a strong national force capable of safeguarding the highest interests of the Kurdistan Region.”
