Officials from Syria’s autonomous administration say the March 10 agreement is expected to be implemented in the coming days, with the United States set to oversee its execution.

Maryam Ibrahim, spokeswoman for the autonomous administration’s delegation negotiating with Damascus, said Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) General Commander Mazloum Abdi is expected to visit Damascus within the next ten days. She confirmed that practical steps are underway to begin implementing the agreement.

Ibrahim stressed that the SDF will continue to protect northern and eastern Syria, adding that Syrian army forces will not deploy to those areas. She said the autonomous administration remains committed to a political solution and is working to ensure the success of the agreement reached between President Ahmed al-Sharaa and Mazloum Abdi.

Meanwhile, Yasser Suleiman, spokesman for autonomous administration’s delegation negotiating with Damascus, said the agreement is also expected to come into force shortly. He added that the United States has expressed readiness to supervise the implementation, at the request of President Ahmed al-Sharaa.

The agreement, signed on 10 March by SDF General Commander Mazloum Abdi and Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa, includes a declaration of a ceasefire across Syria and guarantees the right of Syrians to participate in the political process.

Under the terms of the deal, Kurds are recognised as a major component of Syrian society, with their rights formally guaranteed. The agreement also provides for the integration of civilian and military institutions in northern and eastern Syria into the administration of the Syrian state, including border crossings, airports, and oil and gas facilities.

The agreement further rejects calls for division and hate speech, and affirms that all parties must support the Syrian state in the face of any internal or external threats.
