Professor of University of Sulaimani Appointed as Critic at International Film Festival

The University of Sulaimani (Sulaymaniyah) announced on Tuesday that one of its professors has been appointed to the International Film Critics Higher Committee at the 12th Duhok International Film Festival.

In a statement, the university said that Assistant Professor Dr Kovan Hussein, Professor of Media and Filmmaking at the University of Sulaymaniyah, has been nominated as the sole representative of Kurdistan on the International Film Critics Committee for the Special Critics Award at the 12th Duhok International Film Festival.

The statement explained that Dr Hussein evaluated the films participating in the festival within the framework of the International Federation of Film Critics (FIPRESCI), alongside critics from Germany and India.

The university noted that this participation in an international institution that awards prizes across more than 70 film festivals worldwide reflects international recognition of the academic standing and professional expertise of the University of Sulaymaniyah’s faculty members.
