PUK Political Bureau Offers Condolences Over Flood Losses

The Political Bureau of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) has expressed deep sorrow and condolences following the human and material losses caused by recent floods across parts of the Kurdistan Region. The Politburo urged the relevant authorities to coordinate and cooperate in limiting the damage and providing support to those affected.
In a statement received by PUKMEDIA, the Politburo reported that heavy rain and subsequent flooding had resulted in significant loss of life and damage to public property, particularly in the Chamchamal district and the Laylan area of Kirkuk.
The statement extended sympathies to the families of the victims and praised the efforts of rescue teams and institutions working to offer assistance and manage the situation. It also called for collaboration between the Kurdistan Regional Government, governorates, independent administrations, and federal government institutions to secure the necessary equipment and resources, with the aim of reducing damage and preparing effectively.
The Politburo noted that forecasts suggest the current weather conditions may persist, and therefore emphasised the importance of collective action and rapid relief efforts. The statement concluded with a prayer for the safety of the people of the entire country.
