A new Turkish airline has commenced operations at Sulaymaniyah International Airport, strengthening air links between the Kurdistan Region and Türkiye with four scheduled flights per week.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, the Sulaymaniyah International Airport administration confirmed that AJet has resumed its service to the city, becoming the second international carrier to reinstate flights following the recent reopening of the Sulaymaniyah–Türkiye route.
The airport administration said the airline’s return would effectively double the number of Turkish flights to Sulaymaniyah, noting that passengers will also benefit from competitive ticket prices and high-quality service.
AJet’s inaugural flight landed at Sulaymaniyah International Airport earlier today, marking the start of a four-times-weekly service between Sulaymaniyah and Istanbul.
Airport officials expressed optimism that the expansion of Turkish air traffic will support travel demand and contribute to wider commercial and tourism activity in the region.
