Iraqi President Receives UK Ambassador, Discusses Strengthening Bilateral Cooperation

Iraqi President Abdullatif Jamal Rashid's meeting with British Ambassador Irfan Siddiq, 1 December 2025.
Iraqi President Abdullatif Jamal Rashid received Irfan Siddiq, the United Kingdom’s Ambassador to Iraq, at Baghdad Palace.
At the start of the meeting, the President expressed his sincere appreciation to Ambassador Siddiq for offering condolences on the passing of his brother, the late Shamal Jamal Rashid. The two sides reviewed bilateral relations and opportunities to further develop cooperation across a range of sectors.
President Rashid reaffirmed Iraq’s commitment to strengthening its historic partnership with the United Kingdom, emphasising the importance of continued joint efforts to advance shared interests and to promote security and stability throughout the region.
For his part, Ambassador Siddiq conveyed his appreciation to the President and underscored the United Kingdom’s pride in its longstanding relationship with Iraq. He reiterated his country’s readiness to expand cooperation and maintain close coordination on issues of mutual concern.
