Qubad Talabani: Resolving Key Iraq–Kurdistan Issues Must Be a Government Priority

Qubad Talabani meets Arman Topçu.

Deputy Prime Minister Qubad Talabani met with Arman Topçu, the Turkish Consul General, to discuss relations between the Kurdistan Region and Türkiye, as well as the political situation in both the Kurdistan Region and Iraq.

During the meeting, held on Tuesday (25 November 2025), both sides emphasised the importance of strengthening ties across various sectors, particularly in trade.

They also exchanged views on the political process in Iraq following the parliamentary elections. In this context, the Deputy Prime Minister stated that forming a strong government that safeguards the rights of all communities would contribute significantly to improving security and stability in the country.

He stressed that a key priority for the future governments of both Iraq and the Kurdistan Region must be resolving the outstanding issues between them.
