Security Source Rejects Reports of Attack on Khormor Gas Field

A senior security official has rejected reports alleging that the Khor Mor gas field in the Chamchamal district of Sulaymaniyah province came under missile or drone attack on Monday night, 23 November 2025.

In a press statement, the official said: “The reports circulating in the media last night regarding a missile or drone attack on the Khor Mor gas field are entirely baseless.”

The official clarified that the sirens heard late in the evening were activated after a drone was detected flying near the site. Security forces tasked with protecting the field handled the situation, and the investing company has continued its operations without interruption.

The official added that security forces, in coordination with coalition forces, had conducted strikes on ISIS hideouts and positions in the Zghaitun Valley, approximately 40 kilometres from the Khor Mor gas field.
