PUK Kurdistan Region Peshmerga

In a message, Kurdistan Region Vice President Sheikh Jaafar Sheikh Mustafa pays tribute to the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) martyrs and all those who have laid down their lives for the liberation of Kurdistan. He honoured their courage and sacrifice, reaffirming the party’s enduring commitment to freedom, justice, and the families of the fallen.

The following is Kurdistan VP’s message:

Every year on 21 November, we observe PUK Martyrs’ Day. On this occasion, I pay tribute to the souls of the PUK martyrs and all those who have given their lives for the Kurdistan liberation movement. May the families of our martyrs always take pride in their sacrifice.

Since its founding, the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) has shed a river of blood in the pursuit of Kurdistan’s freedom and liberation. From the mountain battles and partisan operations in the cities, to the prison cells under Ba’athist oppression, and the defensive campaigns against ISIS terrorists, the PUK has borne countless sacrifices.

This anniversary is a momentous day in the history of the party of martyrs and the national struggle of Kurdistan. It also coincides with the execution of three heroic PUK leaders—Shihab Sheikh Nuri, Jaafar Abdulwahid, and Anwar Zorab. The history of the PUK demonstrates the courage and dedication of its leaders and Peshmerga. Its strength lies in belief, making it difficult for adversaries to contemplate weakening it.

Greetings to the proud families of the martyrs, who have given their dearest for the Kurds and Kurdistan. We assure them that they are a source of pride for us.

Sheikh Jaafar Sheikh Mustafa
Vice President of the Kurdistan Region
