Bafel Jalal Talabani, President of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) has issued a message on the PUK’s Martyrs’ Day, stating: The PUK marks this occasion with deep pride, solemnly honouring all the martyrs whose sacrifices and blood have carried Kurdistan to where it stands today.

The following is PUK President’s message:

PUK Martyrs’ Day is a day of pride, a moment when the bright pages of our Kurdish struggle are opened once more. For us, it is an occasion to remember the sacrifices made by the sons of the PUK, who gave their blood for the Kurdish liberation movement in pursuit of our people’s highest aspirations.

The PUK marks this day with great pride, honourably commemorating all the martyrs whose sacrifices and blood have brought our Kurdistan to where it stands today.

We have not forgotten the years of sorrow and hardship endured by the proud families of our martyrs. Our ongoing efforts to build a brighter future and serve our beloved people stand as a testament to our loyalty to the martyrs and to the noble values for which they gave their lives.

Peace be upon the souls of the martyrs of the PUK, and upon all those who fell in our people’s struggle for liberation.
