28th Galawezh International Festival Set to Take Place in Sulaymaniyah

The 28th Galawezh International Festival is set to be held this month, running for three days and showcasing writers, authors, and cultural figures from Kurdish, Arab, and Persian communities.
Dr. Ibtissam Ismail Qadir, President of the Galawezh Centre, told PUKMEDIA: “The festival will commence on 20 November in Sulaymaniyah and will continue for three days.”
She added: “The opening ceremony will feature a variety of artistic performances. On the second day, submitted works, including poems, stories, and research papers, will be discussed. There will also be a session examining the influence of artificial intelligence on the cultural and literary scene.”
She explained that “on the final day, prizes will be awarded to the winning entries, followed by the closing ceremony, which will include musical performances, singing, and poetry readings.” She also noted that alongside the main festival events, there will be a book fair, an art exhibition honouring the late artists Lala Abda and Qarani Jamil, and a handicrafts exhibition.
