Polling stations across Iraq closed at 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, 9 November 2025, marking the end of the special voting process for the Iraqi parliamentary elections, which commenced at 7:00 a.m.
According to Iraq's Independent High Electoral Commission (IHEC), the results of the special voting will be announced together with the general election results, following the nationwide vote scheduled for Tuesday, 11 November 2025 — 24 hours after polls close.
The IHEC reported that 1,313,980 members of the military and security forces were eligible to cast their ballots in the special vote. These voters were distributed across 809 polling centers comprising 4,501 polling stations throughout Iraq. In addition, 26,538 internally displaced persons (IDPs) were also eligible to participate, voting across 27 polling centers that included 97 polling stations.
The commission stated that a total of 7,743 candidates are contesting the elections, while 848 candidates were disqualified after the completion of file reviews and legal procedures.
IHEC reiterated that only those holding biometric voter cards were permitted to vote, emphasising that these cards serve as a secure verification method and cannot be used by anyone other than the registered voter.
