Iraqi President Dr Abdullatif Jamal Rashid met today, Tuesday, 4 November 2025, with Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari and his accompanying delegation on the sidelines of the Second World Summit for Social Development in Doha, Qatar.

During the meeting, the two leaders discussed bilateral relations and ways to enhance cooperation across various fields, emphasising the importance of strengthening ties between the two friendly nations in pursuit of their shared interests. President Rashid reaffirmed his commitment to deepening the bonds of friendship with Pakistan and stressed the need for coordination on matters of mutual concern, working together to consolidate stability and promote sustainable development in the region.

The discussions also covered recent international and regional developments, with both sides highlighting the importance of supporting initiatives aimed at reducing tensions and fostering dialogue to strengthen global peace and security. President Rashid underlined the urgent need to end the aggression against Gaza and called on the international community to ensure the delivery of food and medical aid to the Palestinian people. He expressed gratitude for Pakistan’s steadfast support for the Palestinian cause and its backing of the Palestinian people in their pursuit of their legitimate rights and the establishment of an independent state.

The two presidents further exchanged views on the agenda of the Second World Summit for Social Development and the resolutions expected to be issued, expressing hope that these measures would advance social development efforts at both regional and global levels.

President Zardari, for his part, expressed appreciation for Iraq and its people, affirming Pakistan’s desire to further develop relations, expand bilateral cooperation, and exchange expertise. He also commended Iraq’s pivotal role in promoting regional security and stability.
