Sheikh Jaafar Sheikh Mustafa, Vice President of the Kurdistan Region, and Colonel Matthew Schleupner, U.S. Military Advisor to the Global Coalition Against the Islamic State (ISIS) in Iraq and the Kurdistan Region.
Sheikh Jaafar Sheikh Mustafa, Vice President of the Kurdistan Region, received Colonel Matthew Schleupner, U.S. Military Advisor to the Global Coalition Against the Islamic State (ISIS) in Iraq and the Kurdistan Region.
During the meeting, the two sides discussed U.S. relations with Iraq and the Kurdistan Region, the latest regional developments, and the security situation, particularly the ongoing threat posed by ISIS. They also reviewed coalition's military assistance to the Kurdish Peshmerga forces and several other shared concerns.
Both sides underscored the necessity of continued joint cooperation in combating terrorism and addressing the threat of ISIS, while also emphasising the significance of Peshmerga reform and unification efforts.
The meeting also touched upon Erbil-Baghdad relations and the outstanding issues between them, with both sides reaffirming the need to continue dialogue to reach lasting solutions.
