Flights Between Türkiye and Sulaymaniyah Resume After Nearly Three Years

After nearly three years of suspension, the first flight from Türkiye to Sulaymaniyah is scheduled to land at Sulaymaniyah International Airport [Jalal Talabani International Airport] at 1:00 a.m. on Monday, marking the official resumption of air traffic between the two destinations. The same aircraft will depart for Türkiye at 3:00 a.m., carrying a number of passengers.
Dana Mohammed Saeed, spokesperson for Sulaymaniyah International Airport, told PUKMEDIA: “The first flight from Türkiye will arrive at Sulaymaniyah International Airport at 1:00 a.m. tonight, and the same plane will return to Türkiye at 3:00 a.m. with passengers on board.”
He added that this flight represents the official restart of operations between Türkiye and Sulaymaniyah, with several regular flights expected to take place each week.
Flights between Türkiye and Sulaymaniyah were suspended on 3 April 2023 by the Turkish Civil Aviation Authority and were officially reopened on 15 October 2025.
