Bafel Jalal Talabani, President of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK), received members of the PUK campaign team who were violently attacked in Erbil.
The meeting was attended by Qubad Talabani, Supervisor of the PUK’s List 222 electoral campaign in Erbil constituency. During the meeting, the campaign team briefed President Bafel on the details of the incident, explaining that the attack appeared to be spontaneous and carried out by a small group of individuals rather than a premeditated act.
President Bafel stated that such behaviour does not reflect the values or character of the people of Erbil.
“This action is far removed from the traditions and conduct of Erbil’s citizens. The people of Erbil will respond to such acts through their votes on election day,” he said.
Reaffirming his full support for the youth and campaigners of the PUK, President Bafel emphasised: “I stand firmly by my words — I will not tolerate any organised attacks against our comrades anywhere.”
