PUK President’s meeting with Russian Ambassador.

Bafel Jalal Talabani, President of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK), received Elbrus Kutrashev, the Russian Ambassador to Iraq.

The meeting focused on the overall situation in the Kurdistan Region and Iraq. Both sides emphasised the importance of maintaining constructive dialogue to address challenges and ensure regional stability.

With regard to the upcoming elections, they stressed the need for a clean and fair electoral process that safeguard everyone’s rights and contribute to the country’s further revival.

They also exchanged views on developments in Syria and West Kurdistan. President Bafel underlined the importance of protecting the rights of all ethnic groups and communities, particularly the Kurds as a major nation. He highlighted that the uniqueness of West Kurdistan must be respected and that the rights of “our nation should be guaranteed within the framework of a new constitution.”
