Rania to Welcome PUK President Tomorrow

The Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) is organising a public carnival tomorrow, Thursday, 30 October 2025, in the city of Rania, to introduce the candidates on the party’s list 222. Bafel Jalal Talabani, President of the PUK, will attend the event.
Karwan Gaznay, the PUK Spokesperson, told PUKMEDIA: “The PUK is holding a public carnival in Rania to introduce the candidates on its list number 222, with President Bafel Jalal Talabani in attendance.”
The spokesperson added that “President Bafel Jalal Talabani will deliver a speech during the carnival,” noting that the event is scheduled to begin at 2:00 pm in the Rania Sports Hall.
The PUK is contesting the 2025 Iraqi parliamentary elections, scheduled for 11 November, across several governorates. It is presenting its candidates on an independent list numbered 222 in Erbil, Sulaymaniyah (including Halabja), Duhok, Kirkuk, and Diyala. In Nineveh Governorate, the PUK is running as part of the Nineveh People’s Union Coalition with list number 281, while in Salah al-Din it is fielding a single candidate within the National Masses Coalition with list number 240.
The PUK is running with 156 candidates in total, distributed as follows:
Sulaymaniyah: 36 candidates
Erbil: 30 candidates
Duhok: 5 candidates
Kirkuk: 24 candidates
Diyala: 28 candidates
Nineveh: 31 candidates
Salah al-Din: 1 candidate
Baghdad: 1 candidate
All candidates have been approved by the Iraqi Independent High Electoral Commission, and no complaints or allegations of corruption, misuse of public funds, or misconduct have been filed against any of them.
