Qubad Talabani speaks at an election rally in Soran, Erbil.
Qubad Talabani, Supervisor of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan’s (PUK) List 222 electoral campaign in the Erbil constituency, met with comrades in the Soran, Diyana, and Balakyan electoral districts, emphasising that the PUK is both capable of and committed to resolving the issues in Baghdad.
Talabani stated that while many parties can easily discuss the problems and demands of the people, not all have the strength or capacity to address them. “The PUK is the force that both can and wants to solve the problems in Baghdad,” he said.
He added that the division of votes or abstention by protesters ultimately benefits the party responsible for creating these problems. He urged comrades to devote all their efforts to encouraging as many non-voters as possible to support the PUK, as the party’s promises and decisions represent the true strength of Kurdish citizens in both Baghdad and Kurdistan.
Talabani also highlighted the significance of Soran as a key hub for the PUK, noting its role as a meeting place for many of Kurdistan’s rich languages and cultures. He praised the Balakayati region as a longstanding stronghold of the PUK, describing its people as “sweeter than honey,” and emphasised the deep-rooted connection between the PUK and the people of Balakyan, asserting that neither will ever be oppressed.
