The Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) will host a public carnival in Kirkuk tomorrow, Tuesday 28 October 2025, to introduce the candidates of its 222nd list, with President Bafel Jalal Talabani in attendance.

Karwan Gaznay, PUK Spokesperson, told PUKMEDIA: "A public carnival will be held in Kirkuk to introduce the candidates of the PUK’s 222 list, attended by President Bafel Jalal Talabani."

He added that President Bafel will deliver a speech during the event, which is scheduled to begin at 2:00 PM at the PUK Political Bureau building in Kirkuk.

The PUK is contesting the 2025 Iraqi parliamentary elections, scheduled for 11 November, across several governorates. It is presenting its candidates on an independent list numbered 222 in Erbil, Sulaymaniyah (including Halabja), Duhok, Kirkuk, and Diyala. In Nineveh Governorate, the PUK is running as part of the Nineveh People’s Union Coalition with list number 281, while in Salah al-Din it is fielding a single candidate within the National Masses Coalition with list number 240.

The PUK is running with 156 candidates in total, distributed as follows:

Sulaymaniyah: 36 candidates
Erbil: 30 candidates
Duhok: 5 candidates
Kirkuk: 24 candidates
Diyala: 28 candidates
Nineveh: 31 candidates
Salah al-Din: 1 candidate
Baghdad: 1 candidate

All candidates have been approved by the Iraqi Independent High Electoral Commission, and no complaints or allegations of corruption, misuse of public funds, or misconduct have been filed against any of them.
