Qubad Talabani, supervisor of the electoral campaign for List 222 of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) in the Erbil constituency, met with party members from the 12th electoral district of Ankawa and Kuran, where he said:  “With only 18 seats, the PUK has held more weight, influence, and achieved more results than all other parties over the past few years. If the PUK wins even more seats this time, imagine how much stronger and more effective it can be in resolving the key issues facing our people.”

Talabani referred to President Bafel Jalal Talabani’s remarks in Koya carnival in a post on his Facebook page, saying: “President Bafel made it clear yesterday that with only 18 seats, the PUK has held more weight, influence, and achieved more results than all other parties over the past few years. If the PUK wins even more seats this time, imagine how much stronger and more effective it can be in resolving the key issues facing our people.”

Talabani called on PUK members and supporters to work actively to increase voter turnout for the party in the coming days.

“In my meeting with the comrades of the 12th electoral district of Ankawa and Kuran, I said that the protesting citizens of Erbil and the PUK must strengthen the party’s position in Baghdad through this election,” he said. “Our comrades should do everything possible in these two weeks to encourage people to vote for the PUK, because in truth, the only political force that both can and wants to solve the problems in Baghdad is the PUK.”

The PUK is contesting the 2025 Iraqi parliamentary elections, scheduled for 11 November, across several governorates, presenting its candidates on an independent list numbered 222 in Erbil, Sulaymaniyah (including Halabja), Duhok, Kirkuk, and Diyala. In Nineveh Governorate, the PUK is running as part of the "Nineveh People’s Union Coalition" with number 281, while in Saladin it is fielding one candidate within the "National Masses Coalition" with number 240.

Overall, the PUK is entering the elections with 156 candidates: 36 in Sulaymaniyah, 30 in Erbil, 5 in Duhok, 24 in Kirkuk, 28 in Diyala, 31 in Nineveh within the Nineveh People’s Union Coalition, and one candidate each in Saladin and Baghdad.
