President Bafel Jalal Talabani to Attend PUK Carnival in Koya

A public carnival is set to take place in the city of Koya tomorrow, Saturday, 25 October 2025, to present the candidates of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan’s (PUK) list 222, in the presence of PUK President Bafel Jalal Talabani.
Speaking to PUKMEDIA, PUK Spokesperson Karwan Gaznay said: “The public carnival in Koya will introduce the candidates of the PUK’s list 222, attended by President Bafel Jalal Talabani.” He added that the President will deliver a speech during the event, which is scheduled to begin at 2:00 PM at the Nawzad Mohammed Sports Hall.
The Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) is contesting the 2025 Iraqi parliamentary elections, scheduled for 11 November, across several governorates. It is presenting its candidates on an independent list numbered 222 in Erbil, Sulaymaniyah (including Halabja), Duhok, Kirkuk, and Diyala. In Nineveh Governorate, the PUK is running as part of the Nineveh People’s Union Coalition with list number 281, while in Salah al-Din it is fielding a single candidate within the National Masses Coalition with list number 240.
The PUK is running with 156 candidates in total, distributed as follows:
Sulaymaniyah: 36 candidates
Erbil: 30 candidates
Duhok: 5 candidates
Kirkuk: 24 candidates
Diyala: 28 candidates
Nineveh: 31 candidates
Salah al-Din: 1 candidate
Baghdad: 1 candidate
All candidates have been approved by the Iraqi Independent High Electoral Commission, and no complaints or allegations of corruption, misuse of public funds, or misconduct have been filed against any of them.
