Qubad Talabani, supervisor of the Erbil Constituency for List 222 of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK), addressed comrades from the 4th Degala, 1st West Koya, and 2nd East Koya electoral districts and emphasised that the PUK’s programme and policy for this parliamentary term are clear and concise: guaranteed budgets and salaries.
“The Kurdish people are tired of waiting for their salaries every month,” Talabani said. He added that citizens seek services, employment, market recovery, and transparency—all of which require a guaranteed budget. Talabani stressed that such guarantees cannot be provided by those who continually disrupt relations between the Kurdistan Region and Baghdad, nor by small parties that have historically had no real impact and whose only aim is to weaken the PUK.
During a visit to Koya, Talabani also met with comrades and local citizens across university and college sectors and committees. He highlighted that the PUK’s victory is a victory for Kurdistan, equating it with the preservation of achievements and progress towards greater stability, particularly regarding budget and salary issues.
“The PUK now looks to the efforts and courage of Koya and its people,” he said.
He also noted that Koya has long been deliberately marginalised by the ruling party in Erbil. “But only a strong PUK can end this marginalisation—and we will end it,” Talabani concluded.
