PUK President Bafel Jalal Talabani to Attend Public Carnival in Garmian

In the presence of Bafel Jalal Talabani, President of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK), a public carnival is set to take place tomorrow, Wednesday, 22 October 2025, in the Garmian Administration to introduce the candidates of the PUK’s List No. 222.

PUK Spokesperson Karwan Gaznay told PUKMEDIA: "A public carnival will be held in Garmian to present the candidates of the PUK’s List No. 222, with the attendance of President Bafel Jalal Talabani."

He added that President Talabani will deliver a speech during the event, which will commence at 4:00 PM at Sherwana Castle, near the city of Kalar.

The Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) is contesting the 2025 Iraqi parliamentary elections, scheduled for 11 November, across several governorates. It is presenting its candidates on an independent list numbered 222 in Erbil, Sulaymaniyah (including Halabja), Duhok, Kirkuk, and Diyala. In Nineveh Governorate, the PUK is running as part of the Nineveh People’s Union Coalition with list number 281, while in Saladin it is fielding one candidate within the National Masses Coalition with list number 240.

The PUK is running with 156 candidates in total, distributed as follows:

Sulaymaniyah: 36 candidates

Erbil: 30 candidates

Duhok: 5 candidates

Kirkuk: 24 candidates

Diyala: 28 candidates

Nineveh: 31 candidates 

Salah al-Din: 1 candidate

Baghdad: 1 candidate

All candidates have been approved by the Iraqi Independent High Electoral Commission, and no complaints or allegations of corruption, misuse of public funds, or misconduct have been filed against any of them.
