Ukrainian drones attacked a gas plant in Russia’s Orenburg region on Sunday, triggering a fire at one of the facility’s workshops, the regional governor confirmed.

Governor Yevgeny Solntsev said on his official Telegram channel that emergency services had managed to contain the blaze and that no casualties were reported among the plant’s employees. However, he noted that part of the facility sustained damage as a result of the strike.

Earlier this month, Solntsev said Ukrainian drones had attempted to target an industrial site in the city of Orsk, near the border with Kazakhstan. At that time, unverified footage circulating on Telegram appeared to show a drone striking what was identified as the Orsknefteorgsintez oil refinery.

Ukraine has intensified its drone and missile attacks on Russian refineries and energy infrastructure since August, in an effort to disrupt fuel production and cut Moscow’s revenue from oil exports.
