Carnival Held to Introduce Candidates of the Nineveh People’s Union Coalition List in Shingal.
A carnival introducing several candidates of the Itihad Ahl Nainawa [Nineveh People’s Union] Coalition was held in Shingal (Sinjar), where a member of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) Leadership Council called on the people of Shingal to support the coalition.
The event was attended by Comrade Aras Mohammed Agha, Member of the PUK Leadership Council and Chairman of the Nineveh People’s Union Coalition List 281; Daud Jundi, Head of the PUK’s Shingal Headquarters; Sheikh Salih Gargari, Deputy Head of the Headquarters; as well as Mohammed Jassim Kakayi and Wissam Salim, members of the Nineveh Provincial Council from the PUK bloc. The gathering also drew a large audience of citizens, cadres, and supporters from all walks of life.
In his address, Comrade Aras Mohammed Agha emphasised the importance of conducting a peaceful, modern, and responsible electoral campaign, underscoring the shared goal of unity and service to the people.
He stated: “Shingal holds great importance for the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan. We are confident that, through collective effort and courage, our list and candidates in the Nineveh People’s Union Coalition 281 will achieve the highest number of votes in this region.”
The PUK is contesting the 2025 Iraqi parliamentary elections, scheduled for 11 November, across several governorates, presenting its candidates on an independent list numbered 222 in Erbil, Sulaymaniyah (including Halabja), Duhok, Kirkuk, and Diyala. In Nineveh Governorate, the PUK is running as part of the "Nineveh People’s Union Coalition" with list number 281, while in Saladin it is fielding one candidate within the "National Masses Coalition" with list number 240.
Overall, the PUK is entering the elections with 156 candidates: 36 in Sulaymaniyah, 30 in Erbil, 5 in Duhok, 24 in Kirkuk, 28 in Diyala, 31 in Nineveh within the Nineveh People’s Union coalition, and one candidate each in Saladin and Baghdad.
